What a Repair Costs

We don't publish a price list, because no two repairs are the same — the same cracked screen can differ by hundreds of rands between two laptop models. What we do instead is simple: we diagnose the fault first, quote you, and wait for you to say yes. The diagnosis is free, the quote is free, and nothing is charged until you approve the work.

How it works

  1. 1Bring it in or book a callout. Walk into the shop at 202 Marine Drive, or call us out if the machine cannot travel.
  2. 2We diagnose the fault. A technician finds out what is actually wrong rather than guessing from symptoms. No charge for this.
  3. 3You get a quote. A written price for the work and the parts, before anything is started.
  4. 4You decide. If you would rather not go ahead, that is fine — you owe us nothing and you take your machine home.
  5. 5We repair it. Typical turnaround is 24 hours, longer only when a part has to be ordered in. Hardware we fit carries a 12-month warranty.

What changes the price

  • The model. Parts for a common Dell or HP cost a fraction of the same part for a slim ultrabook or a MacBook.
  • What actually failed. A failing drive is a straightforward swap. Liquid damage that has reached the board is fine soldering work, and that takes time.
  • Parts availability. Anything we hold or can get locally is quicker and cheaper than a part that has to be imported.
  • Whether your data needs recovering. Getting the machine working and getting the files off it are two different jobs.

Not on the South Coast? Courier It To Us

You do not need to be anywhere near Ramsgate to use us. We take in repairs by courier from anywhere in South Africa — Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein and everywhere between. The workshop is here; your laptop does not have to be.

How a courier repair works

  1. 1Tell us what it is doing. Call or WhatsApp with the make, model and the fault. We give you a rough idea of what is involved and our shipping address.
  2. 2Send it. Pack it properly and send it by courier. Use a tracked, insured service — for a laptop it costs little and it matters if something goes wrong in transit.
  3. 3We diagnose and quote. Same as a walk-in: we find the real fault and send you a written quote. Nothing is charged and nothing is started until you say go.
  4. 4We repair and courier it back. You are kept updated while it is here, and it goes back to your door.

Back up your data first if the machine still boots. We treat everything on the drive as important and tell you before doing anything that risks it — but a backup you made yourself is always the safer position, wherever a repair happens.
